I am starting a new series! Im making portraits of the women of the North Fork of Long Island. The North Fork has long boasted a vigorous women's community. As the area changes, and people age, I wanted to document the members of this community before it changes radically. Here are a few preliminary sketches.
I am especially thrilled to share that I will be exhibiting my work at the Garrison Art Center in October of 2025. Stay tuned!
"Out in Yonkers" will be exhibited at the Westchester Jewish Community Services Headquarters in White Plains NY from June 25 through mid July.
Save the date! I will be interviewed by Angie Piwinski about "Out in Yonkers" at the Hudson River Museum, as part of their Pride Week activities. Sunday, June 9 at 2pm. To find out more and rsvp: www.hrm.org/events/out-in-yonkers-a-conversation-with-elizabeth-de-bethune/
The Yonkers Riverfront Art Gallery has developed a reputation for their thought-provoking and rich exhibits during Pride Month. I'm happy to share that I will be a part of this year's group exhibit "Radical Joy", curated by Haifa Bint-Kaidi, up from June 8–August 23, 2024, exhibiting the work shown below.
I am pleased to participate in the group exhibit "Renascence", curated by by WomensWork.Art, at the Cunneen Hackett Arts Center, in Poughkeepsie , NY. The exhibit is up June 1-29, 2024. The opening is Saturday, June 1, 2–5pm.
"Intimate and Ordinary" has opened at the Rye Art Center, Gallery B! Curated by Jill Parry, this is an exhibit of my more informal figurative work, paintings of family and friends in interior spaces. The exhibit runs until June 8. The Artist's Reception, with a brief talk, will be Thursday, May 23rd, 5:30–7pm. Come by! I hope to see you there.
I'm pleased to share the news that I have three pieces in the group exhibit "Spirits Songs: Visual Voices of the LGBTIQA+ Artists" at the Mindy Ross Gallery at Orange County Community College in Newburgh NY. The exhibit opens on Monday, February 26 and run til April 26.

Westchester LGBTQ History Project Published
This is a website devoted to research and oral histories documenting LBGTQ+ life in Westchester County. The website development is funded by a grant from SUNY Purchase, which both Allee and I graduated from. I was thrilled to see that I get to keep company among the oral histories with two of my subjects for the portrait project, Michael Sabatino and Robert Voorheis, as well as my painting friend and Crit Lab colleague, Mitchell Visoky.
Check out the website; Allee is doing some wonderful work.
